India's first solar observatory, parked 1.5 million kilometres sunward where it can watch the Sun without interruption.

From a halo orbit around L1, Aditya-L1 never has the Earth pass between it and the Sun. That uninterrupted view is the entire point: solar storms develop over hours, and a gap in coverage can be the gap that matters.
The Solar Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope has captured flare development in ultraviolet at a cadence no previous instrument achieved, including a first-of-its-kind observation of rare plasma ejection in UV light. Alongside it, the in-situ particle and magnetometer payloads measure the solar wind as it arrives: the same event, imaged at the source and sampled on site.
Aditya-L1 data has already been folded into international solar storm studies, and helped explain the unusual dawn-time geomagnetic disturbances observed during strong storms.
